The core i7 systems are now becoming more popular as 2009 goes on. DDR 3 will become the main stream and gamers will be looking for multi threading support.
You may be asking yourself what does it cost to build a core i7 system. Well, lets take a look.
Asus P6T DELUXE X58 Socket 1366 7.1 channel audio ATX Motherboard
Antec 300 Three Hundred Case - No PSU
Samsung TS-H653B 20X Black SATA DVD±RW Dual Layer Bare Drive - OEM
Intel Core i7 920 2.66GHz Socket 1366 8MB Cache Retail Boxed Processor
Logitech Wireless Desktop Wave Pro - With New MX1100 Rechargable Laser Mouse
Sapphire HD 4870 1GB GDDR5 Dual DVI HDTV Out PCI-E Graphics Card
Samsung SM2433BW 24″ TFT Monitor 1920×1200 20000:1 300cd/m2 5ms VGA/DVI Glossy Black 3 Years On-Site Warranty
Logitech X-540 5.1 Surround Sound Speakers - 70W RMS
Corsair 3GB (3×1GB) DDR3 1333MHz XMS3 Memory CL9(9-9-9-24) for i7 motherboards
This system will cost over £1000 and is similar to a system I would want and build. The 920 processor is a good choice because when you want more power its just basically a case of upgrading your processor, not your system!
